NEW PALTZ, NY (11/14/2018)– SUNY New Paltz recognizes the student-athletes who participated in the 13th annual Leaf Rake across the New Paltz community, Nov. 3 & 4.

Nearly 250 students participated in the annual event, organized by the College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including:

Matthew Whitworth of Pawling

Danielle Angyal of Stormville

Nearly all 15 varsity sports teams were part of the community service event, raking leaves for the elderly and other community members.

“New Paltz is a very special place,” said SUNY New Paltz field hockey senior, and SAAC President Samantha Ackerman. “The community outside of our campus is wonderful and filled with many kind people. All of us student-athletes look forward to the annual leaf rake because we love to provide a helping hand to the community. It is important we take time to give back when we are playing our sport. Some of them are our biggest fans too!”
