Bernice June McAvoy
WINSTED, CT- Bernice June McAvoy, formerly of Amenia, NY and most recently of Winsted, CT passed away at her son’s home on November 10, 2018. At her side was her loving son David and his wife Karrie and their children Anna, Emily, and Andres.
“June”, as she liked to be called, was born August 31, 1944 in Sharon, CT to Ralph & Bernice (Loper) Valyou.
She was employed for the state of New York at the Wassaic State School for 37 years. June loved family gatherings, especially birthdays and holidays. She also had a great love and respect for animals and wildlife.
She leaves behind sons James McAvoy Jr. and wife Sue, of Copake, NY, David McAvoy and wife Karrie (with whom she resided) of Winsted, CT, sister Debbie Pratt and husband Don of Westerville, OH, her brothers Lyn Valyou of Amenia, NY, and Wayne Valyou of Valitie, NY and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her husband James McAvoy Sr., her son Thomas McAvoy, sister Connie Florio, and brothers Louis, Howard, & Kenneth Valyou.
