A message from County Executive Marc Molinaro

This Sunday, November 11th, our nation takes a day to honor the brave men and women who have valiantly served our country. Veterans Day is an annual commemoration of the sacrifice those in our Armed Forces perform every day to protect the very way of life we hold so dear.

Since our country’s founding, the bravest among us have answered the call to defend their neighbor and nation, selflessly giving of themselves in duty to safeguard the values that make the United States of America the example the rest of the word looks to emulate. Whether defending the homeland or fighting for liberty on foreign soil, countless veterans have made the supreme sacrifice, never to return home again to their loved ones. Still others live with the scars — physical, mental or both — as a reminder of their service to our country. This Veterans Day, I encourage you to honor these courageous men and women who have given so much and asked for so little in return.

We in Dutchess County will hold our annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Dutchess County War Memorial, located at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, November 11th at 11 a.m. I invite you to join Dutchess County in honoring our veterans and thanking them for the freedom they’ve secured for us. Communities throughout our County will also hold Veterans Day events in the coming days, providing residents ample opportunity to remember the veterans who have protected us here and abroad.

I respectfully urge you to join Dutchess County in celebrating our great nation and those who keep it free.
