Obituary, Angelina Mansourian

Angelina Mansourian died on November 7th at the age of 95.  Called Nella by many in her family, Anne will be remembered most for two things: never having an unkind word said about her and for never saying an unkind word about anyone else.

Anne was born on  May 20, 1923, to Umberto and Concetta Marsala. Her parents had emigrated from Italy and she was raised in Yonkers, New York, with her brothers, Anthony, Joseph, August, and George (all deceased). Anne’s mother died when Anne was a teenager, so she lived for a time with her cousins, Mary, Dorothy, Josie, and Jill, who became like four sisters, to go along with her four brothers.

Anne married Greg Mansourian in 1953, after meeting at her father’s grocery store. Greg died in 1991. Greg’s sister, Lucille Saward (deceased) was also more of a sister than sister-in-law to Anne.

Anne is survived by four children: Robert, Greg, Lisa, and Erika, and eight grandchildren: Jessica, Matthew, Tony, Harry, Lucia, Willie, Audrey, and Vincent. Because Anne loved being a mother, she and Greg also brought two foster children into their home. She was “Auntie Anne” to her nephews Stephen, Rob, and Ken Saward.

While raising her family, Anne also volunteered at St. Theresa’s Church and in her community of Briarcliff Manor. She was renowned for her Italian cooking, resilience, and, especially in later years, her ready smile and gentle nature, which made her a favorite of family, friends, and her caretakers at The Hearth at Southbury. She was deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
