THE 18th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS VINEGAR FESTIVAL AT OUR LADY OF THE RESURRECTION MONASTERY IN LAGRANGEVILLE

THE 18th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS VINEGAR FESTIVAL AT OUR LADY OF THE RESURRECTION MONASTERY IN

LAGRANGEVILLE, NY 12540

THE WEEKEND OF DECEMBER 8-9, 10AM-5PM

Volunteers are busily bottling 10 varieties of artisan vinegars, including a robust Red, lively Rose, and fragrant White with many more unique flavors Cherry, Raspberry, Apricot and Beer to tease the palette.

BROTHER VICTOR-ANTOINE D’AVILA LATOURRETTE has preserved these recipes from a 12th Century monastery cookbook and has curated their distinctive flavors for more than two decades with a vinegar starter, aptly named “the Mother” from his native France.

The vinegars are an affordable and unique gift for the holiday season and can be paired with other gifts celebrating the Advent: Icons, handcrafted Nativity scenes, and Inspirational Cards.

The Monastery Gift Shop will offer these vinegars with other foods from Brother Victor’s native Pyrenees as well as his nine internationally acclaimed Cookbooks.

His first cookbook, From a Monastery Kitchen grew out of the simple seasonal meals served to the Benedictine order. His Twelve Months of Monastery Soups sold over 2 million copies and has been translated into five languages.

Brother Victor believes that making vinegar and making soup are basic to everyday life. An old French proverb advises “Eat soup and drink Vinegar first and last and ‘til a hundred years be past.”

For more information about the Vinegar Festival, at Our Lady of the Resurrection Monastery, 246 Barmore Road, LaGrangeville, NY 12540, please call 845-702-4342. The Gift Shop is open to holiday shoppers for one weekend, only.
