Dutchess County War Memorial Ceremony
Highlights Slate of Local Veterans Days Events
Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro and Veterans Services Director Marc Coviello invite residents to participate in Dutchess County’s Veterans Day ceremony at the Dutchess County War Memorial on Sunday, November 11th, at 11 a.m.
The event will gather local veterans from several eras and will include an invocation by VFW Pastor Conrad Gagnon, presentation of colors by the Hudson Valley Alumni Guard, a benediction from Pastor Michael Grazioso of the Full Gospel Center in Lagrangeville, remarks from General Ferg Foley and a wreath presentation by County Executive Molinaro.
The Dutchess County War Memorial is located at John K. Rinaldi Memorial Park at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Veterans Day is a national holiday intended to be a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. Local municipalities throughout the county will also be hosting Veterans Day ceremonies to honor and remember.
County Executive Molinaro and Director Coviello encourage Dutchess County residents to celebrate local veterans by participating in one or more of the numerous Veterans Day events planned across the county.
County Executive Molinaro said, “Particularly in this, Dutchess County’s Year of the Veteran, we are proud to honor the men and women who for generations have protected our nation and safeguarded our freedom. Their sacrifices have ensured we can enjoy the American way of life we hold dear to this day, and we urge residents to attend our Veterans Day commemoration at the Dutchess County War Memorial, or one of the many events throughout our community. Attendance at such events is our way of ensuring the legacy of countless veterans perpetually endures.”
