Kingston man arrested for larceny and counterfeit money

PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at Kingston arrested Lucas Martinez of Walnut Street in the City of Kingston for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument First Degree and Grand Larceny Fourth Degree, both felonies.

The arrest was made after it was determined that on October 21, 2018, Martinez agreed to purchase a motor vehicle that was posted for sale on a cell phone sales app. Martinez met the seller and conducted the transaction. It was later discovered that counterfeit money was used to make the purchase.

Martinez was arraigned before the Town of Kingston Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in the Town of Ulster Court on October 24, 2018.
