Obituary, Doreen Sepe

MILLBROOK – Doreen Claire Sepe, née Piper, of Millbrook, NY died at Vassar Medical Center on October 15, 2018 surrounded by her family and many friends. Born in Berlin, New Hampshire on February 24, 1930, she arrived in Millbrook where she met her husband, Richard J. Sepe, to whom she was married in 1952. She was active in various area food service venues establishing numerous friendships that lasted her lifetime. She was also part owner of The Pied Piper, a toy store where children and the older young-at-heart were welcomed and would gather with regularity.

Recognized for her culinary excellence, her private catering clients included individuals from both the entertainment and business industries. But her busy kitchen was frequently full of friends from Millbrook and surrounding areas who, while eager for a taste of her latest creation, knew that an update on her activities would be achieved through her legendary storytelling prowess.

Doreen is survived by her daughter Laurina Sepe Marder of Amenia and Eileen Sepe Fendler and husband Paul Fendler of Cape Cod, grandson Zachary Thomson and wife Elizabeth Paradise of Rhinebeck, brothers-in-law, Victor J. Sepe of Millbrook and Louis P. Sepe of Darien, CT and sister-in-law, Rosemary Sepe Neilson of Poughkeepsie. She is further survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Sepe in 2004 and by her sister Mary Jane and her brother Thomas.

Calling hours will be held at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook on Friday, October 19 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, North Avenue, Millbrook on Saturday, October 20 at 10 AM. Interment will be conducted following the Mass in St. Joseph’s Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
