Obituary, Marjorie Van Wagenen

PLEASANT VALLEY – Marjorie “Jorie” Van Wagenen, 76, passed away on October 8, 2018. Born in 1942 to Russell Aldrich and Marjorie Cronk Aldrich, Jorie was a lifelong area resident. She attended Poughkeepsie and Arlington High Schools and received her Bachelor of Nursing from Dutchess Community College. She retired from Millbrook Central Schools, where she worked as a Registered Nurse and served as the president of the local unit of the C.S.E.A.

In 1964, Jorie married Jon Van Wagenen. They spent the last 54 years building a life together and raising their family in their home in Pleasant Valley. She is survived by Jon, as well as her son and daughter, Eric Van Wagenen and Jonna Shutowick Van Wagenen. Additional family members who grieve her loss are her son-in-law John Shutowick and her grandchildren, Tyler and Jack Shutowick. She will also be missed greatly by her nieces and nephews, Cheryl Swenson, Caren Duprey and Craig Elmendorf, Russell Aldrich III, and Eva Phillips.

Jorie is also survived by many friends who loved her dearly and who we hope can join us in honoring her this Saturday, October 13th from 2pm-4pm at  Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. There will be a celebration of her life following the calling hours.
