Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue to host 3rd annual Halloween event for kids

DOVER PLAINS, NY (October 3, 2018) — Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue’s 3rd Annual Trick or Treat event will take place on Saturday, October 27 from 10:30 AM – 12 PM at their farm located at 2699 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The event is free, open to the public, and will be held rain or shine. Costumes are encouraged.

The event provides a unique and different Halloween experience for children to have fun trick or treating, meeting the horses, hearing about their stories and seeing the forever home that Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue (LOHR) has made for 52 rescued horses. In addition to trick or treating throughout the different paddock areas, there will be crafts and games as well.

Located in the hamlet of Dover Plains in eastern Dutchess—the county that is home to the largest population of horses in New York—getting to LOHR is an easy drive from throughout the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and even New York City.

About LOHR:

Since Lucky Orphans opened their barn doors in 2008, they have helped many horses, along with some sheep and goats, find a more promising and meaningful future. It is the goal of LOHR to not only save these wonderful animals, rehabilitating them and rebuilding their trust in people, but also to use their stories of struggle, overcoming adversity, building trust, leadership, and teamwork to create an understanding and inspiration in children, young adults and the community. Today, LOHR is dedicated to not only providing a forever home for these magnificent animals, but also to educating the community and focusing on strengthening the relationship between children and animals to build a more compassionate future.
