Obituary, Merlin F Barto, Sr.

Dover Plains – Merlin F Barto, Sr, 79, passed away on Saturday, September 8th after a brief illness in Beverly Hills, FL where he resided for the past 14 years. He was born Nov. 26, 1938 in Sharon, CT. He was the son of Floyd Myron Barto and Irene M Way both of whom preceded him. He was also preceded by infant daughter Terry. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty (Irish), son Merlin Jr and wife Michele, grandson Robert Barto and great-granddaughter Haileigh, Grandsons Joseph Barto and Stephen Barto. He is also survived by his daughter Sherry and her husband Bernie Dow, grandson Shawn Dow and fiancee Leslie, grandson James Dow and wife Abbay and great-granddaughter Riley. He is survived by his siblings Brother Floyd Barto and wife Wendy, Brother David Barto and wife Lore, and Brother Phillip M Barto and wife Linda, sister Betty Pelissier. Also by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Missy. He was a life member of the Dover Masonic Lodge and a Past Master. He retired from Taconic DDSO. As per his wishes, there will be no services. Donations in his honor may be made to either Hospice or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
