Obituary, Sharon Doyle-Schwartz

Sharon Doyle-Schwartz formerly of Katonah, a Pawling resident since 1979, died September 8th after a diagnosis of Creutzfeld Jackob.  She was born on September 21, 1937 to William J Doyle Jr. and Dorothy Gallaway Doyle of White Plains and Katonah New York.  She was the granddaughter of William H. Gallaway and Mary Theresa McDermott and William J. Doyle and Lida Farrel. Ms. Doyle a graduate of Marymount Secondary School (1953) and Marymount College (1955) She attended the Sorbonne and Beaux Arts in Paris and Good Council in White Plains.

As art editor of the Elan at Marymount, she was the recipient of the L. Carlery Ritchive Marquis Maliny Memorial Award and went on to become a reporter of the Daily Stem in Westchester County.  After graduate school, she became an elementary school teacher at St. Patrick’s school in Verplank and St. Patrick’s school in Bedford for five years. Sharon then became an elementary school teacher in the Katonah Lewisboro School District for 25 years.  She retired in 1994.

She was a member of the Historical Society of Quaker Hill and Pawling, The Pawling Garden Club, Pawling Community Resource and Servicing Center and the Chamber of Commerce.  A parishioner at St. John’s the Evangelist Church in Pawling.  She was an active member of Alter Rose Society, Catholic Daughters, Respect Life Society and Perpetual Adoration Society.

She is survived by Clyde Schwartz, her daughter Kimberly-Dorothy McCowen and her three beautiful grandchildren, Thomas-Edward, Kelsey-Dorothy and Timothy-William, her brother, William J. Doyle III-his wife Elizabeth, 2 nieces, Rebecca and Katherine, and one nephew William IV.
