Goldberg and Kesten Campaigns Announce Joint Indivisible Weekend of Action

Neighboring campaigns will work together to engage the local activist’s communities

Tuesday, August 21: The New York State Senate campaigns of Julie Goldberg and Robert Kesten announced today a joint Indivisible Weekend of Action. This volunteer canvassing effort will occur over the course of a weekend across their neighboring districts, focusing on Robert Kesten on Saturday, August 25, and Julie Goldberg on Sunday, August 26. Members from every local Indivisible group are invited to engage with their campaigns for a weekend of volunteering in advance of the September 13 Democratic Primary.

Volunteers from each district will make phone calls and knock doors in support of their respective candidates. Both Democrats face competitive primary battles next month.

Goldberg, an educator, librarian, writer, and editor, is challenging David Carlucci, a member of the Independent Democratic Conference, for State Senate in District 38. The 38th district includes parts of Rockland and Westchester Counties. Goldberg has been endorsed by Indivisible Westchester, Indivisible Rivertowns, Empire State Indivisible, City Island Indivisible, Indivisible Brooklyn, Indivisible Brooklyn Do or Die, Indivisible Harlem, Indivisible NY6, Indivisible Queens, IndivisibleWeStand UWS, Inwood Indivisible, Mt Vernon Pelham Indivisible, Northern Westchester Indivisible, and NY Indivisible.

Kesten, a human rights advocate and educator, is running for NYS Senate in District 40 against Terrence Murphy. He has been endorsed by the following Indivisible groups: Beekman Indivisible, Briarcliff Ossining Indivisible, CD17 Indivisible, Putnam Progressives, Voices Rising, CCoHOPE, Indivisible Pawling, Indivisible Yorktown, and Indivisible Westchester. His district covers parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties.

Indivisible is a national movement of local grassroots advocacy groups, who take aim at the GOP agenda. Both campaigns hope to harness the grassroots spirit of the Indivisible movement in their efforts to win the Democratic nomination.

“I am very excited to partner with and support Julie’s campaign for State Senate,” said  Kesten. “Together, our campaigns will work to put the people first and restore a true Democratic majority to the State Senate.”

Goldberg said, “Robert Kesten is a courageous fighter for human rights around the world and a consistent advocate of Democratic values here in New York. I look forward to working with him on this day of action, and soon, in the New York State Senate.”

To participate in the Indivisible Day of Action, volunteers can sign up here.
