PRESS RELEASE

Cortlandt, New York – On March 29, 2015 at approximately 5:00 p.m., New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Cortlandt Barracks arrested Ryan S. McNamee, 38 years old, of Wappinger Falls, and Michael Horowitz, 23 years old, of Beacon, New York, for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

On March 29, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to the Home Depot located on Main Street in the Town of Cortlandt for a reported larceny. A loss prevention officer reported to police that he had observed a male subject select numerous power tools from the shelves and exit the store failing to pay for the merchandise.

The loss prevention employee then followed the suspect outside of the store and located a second suspect that also was found to possess stolen power tools.

Home Depot staff contacted the State Police and Horowitz was taken into custody in the parking lot by responding Troopers. The second suspect, later identified as Ryan McNamee, was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

Both defendants were charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and arraigned by Town Justice Daniel McCarthy. McNamee was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail due to having several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Horowitz was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

McNamee and Horowitz are scheduled to re-appear in Cortlandt Court on March 30, 2015.
