“Rhyme & Reason”—Paintings by Jeanette Fintz

Hillsdale, NY– The small works on paper and wood by Jeanette Fintz explore geometric shapes and how we perceive them.  These lively paintings employ color, geometry and rhythmic organization. The subtleties of spatial interactions, conflict, closeness and entanglement engage the viewer in this optical dance of lines and marks.

Jeanette Fintz is a Brooklyn born painter, art educator, art writer and independent curator who resides in Surprise, NY in the Eastern Catskill region of the Hudson River Valley. She is the recipient of the Ingram Merrill Foundation Award for painting, the NYFA Fellowship for Works on Paper, the E.D.Foundation Award for painting, the Ludwig Vogelstein Award for painting, and the Emil and Dines Carlsen Award for painting from the National Academy of Design.

She is a former Assistant Professor of Painting & Drawing at SUNY Purchase, and former Assistant Professor of Drawing, Design & Digital Design at Parsons the New School for Design, from which she received two sabbatical travel grants to Spain and Turkey to research patterning systems. Ms Fintz was founding faculty at Cenfad, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia(1996-97), a Parsons affiliate school.

Casana Designs Space, next to Casana T House, is an art gallery showing the designs of Carrie Chen and many distinguished artists and artisans in the larger region surrounding Hillsdale, NY.
