Obituary, Phyllis D. Gionta

 

Stormville – Phyllis D. Gionta, 81, died on July 31, 2018 at Putnam Hospital Center. She was a 50-year resident of Mahopac before recently moving to Stormville.

Born on July 14, 1937 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Dorothy (Bernhardt) O’Brien. She retired as manager of Medical Records Department from the Long Island Jewish Hospital and Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 50 years, Julius Gionta; her sons, Jesse Kevin (Nancy) Gionta of Wappingers Falls and Greg (JoAnn) Gionta of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Megan, Kayla, Sarah Jean, Grace, and Jessica; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Veronica; her brothers, Allan (Pat) O’Brien and Ken (Joyce) O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman O’Brien.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
