Obituary, Elizabeth Jane “Betsy” Simpson

Elizabeth Jane “Betsy” Simpson of Ellenton, Florida, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

She grew up in Dover Plains, New York, and graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1957.

After many years of clinical nursing, she dedicated the last 20 years of her career to teaching nursing at Indiana Vocational Technical College in Columbus. As a nurse, she devoted herself, even to the last day of her life, to the care of others.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin B. Simpson; her children, David (Jana) Tyndall and Barbara (Larry) Hall, both of Columbus, and Patrick (Gayle) Tyndall of Simpsonville, South Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Newman of Wappingers Falls, New York; her brother, Roy Humeston of Dover Plains, New York; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Maholchic.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cremeens Funeral Home, 823 Elm St., Racine, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
