Poughkeepsie man arrested for domestic violence

PRESS RELEASE

Hyde Park, New York – On July 15, 2018, the New York State Police from the Rhinebeck barracks arrested Michael A. Nicholas, age 32, of Poughkeepsie, NY, for Assault in the 2nddegree, a class D felony.

On June 28, 2018, Troopers were dispatched to Hook Road in the town of Hyde Park for a possible domestic dispute by Dutchess County 911.  Upon arrival to the scene Troopers and Officers from Hyde Park Police Department interviewed the victim who was reluctant to speak.  The victim was transported to Vassar hospital due to serious injuries.  Investigation eventually led to the discovery of the suspect, and a warrant was issued by the town of Hyde Park Court on July 14, 2018, for the arrest of Nicholas.  On July 15, 2018, Nicholas turned himself in at SP Rhinebeck.

Nicholas was arraigned before the town of Hyde Park Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  Nicholas is next scheduled to appear before the Court on July 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.
