Faso Hosts Opioid Forum at the Beekman Town Hall

Washington D.C. – Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) hosted an opioid forum in Dutchess Co. at the Beekman Town Hall on Monday night to connect local residents with experts in the field. The forum featured presentations from CVS Health as part of their ‘Pharmacists Teach Program’; Randi Kelder from Raising Your Awareness About Narcotics (R.Y.A.N.); and Meghan Hetfield from the Council on Addiction, Prevention & Education (CAPE).

“Nearly everywhere I go in Upstate New York, I’ve met someone who has had a friend, family member, or colleague who has had their lives changed by opioids or heroin,” Faso said. “This forum is an opportunity to bring together multiple experts under one roof to connect with residents and provide valuable information. Education is a crucial part of combating the opioid crisis, and forums like these are good opportunities to help facilitate the educational process.”

The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health attended and provided a table of available resources for residents to access.

The forum took place at the Beekman Town Hall in Poughquag, NY. Presenters included:Dutchess Co. Opioid Coordinator Amanda Brennan, Meghan Hetfield of CAPE, Randi Kelder from R.Y.A.N., and Tyler Davis and Craig Coffenberg of CVS Health.

Town Supervisors Mary Covucci (Beekman), Victoria Perotti (Amenia), James Schmitt (Pawling), and Betsy Maas (Union Vale) were also in attendance.
