Statement From Karen Smythe On President Trump’s Supreme Court Nomination
“Women’s rights are under attack, and the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh will only lead to more efforts to roll-back essential protections and health care options. At a time when New York State should be stepping up to protect women’s rights, we are stuck in the mud because of Senators like Sue Serino. Senator Serino has fought against all efforts to protect women’s health care rights, including the simple act codifying the over forty year old Roe v. Wade decision into state law. Sue Serino is out of touch with our community, our values, and our respect for women’s rights and freedom. With Washington run by anti-choice extremists, we cannot continue to have Sue Serino hold New York State back and allow our rights to be stripped away. That is why I am proud to stand up for women’s rights, and I will ensure we pass meaningful protections when I am elected to the State Senate in November.”
