Poughkeepsie – Margaret Fitzpatrick (Margie), a lifelong resident of Dutchess County passed away June 13, 2018 due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Poughkeepsie on November 1, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Losee and Harriett Ferris. Margie graduated from Pine Plains Central School in 1944 and Krissler Business School in 1945. She worked at IBM until 1950 when she married Frank T. Fitzpatrick on April 15, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Poughkeepsie. Frank predeceased her in January 1993 after 43 years of marriage. She was a member of the Poughkeepsie Methodist Church and St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. Margie and Fitz enjoyed volunteering, golfing, bowling and traveling; having been to Bermuda, Hawaii, Germany, Turkey, Belgium and Vieques Puerto Rico.
Margie is survived by her three daughters and their families; Nancy Fitzpatrick of Wappingers Falls, NY, Jill and Dean Dutcher (Drew Dutcher, Megan Katz and Ryan Dutcher) of Hopewell Jct., NY and Maureen and Adam Ziegler (Kelly Ziegler and Chelsea Ziegler) of Woodbridge, VA as well as 5 great-grandchildren. Her twin sister Mary Ritz of Portland, ME also survives along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters Carol Fahey of Cary, NC and Geraldine Young of Cortland, NY.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, June 18, 2018, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
