PRESS RELEASE

Lagrange, New York – On June 13, 2018, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Casey L. Smith, age 25, of Waterbury, CT, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument, both class D felonies, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 4th degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, both class A misdemeanors, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation.

On June 13, 2018, at approximately 2:11 a.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2002 Ford Explorer for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on State Route 55 in the town of Lagrange.  While interviewing the operator, Smith, a strong odor of marijuana was detected.  An investigation found approximately 208.8 grams of marijuana, and 10.2 grams of crack-cocaine.  Further investigation found Smith was in possession of fraudulent bank checks.

Smith was arraigned before the town of Lagrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.  Smith is next scheduled to appear before the Court on June 18, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
