The Rose Ensemble

Friday, March 27, 2015 | 8:00 pm | All Saints’ Chapel Trinity Pawling School

The 12-member group of vocal and instrumental musicians perform Shaker anthems, country dances, hymns and spirituals that gave birth to bluegrass and old-time music. It is the particularly stirring blend of voices that pleases our ears.

Rose Ensemble Founded in 1996 by Artistic Director Jordan Sramek, The Rose Ensemble reawakens the ancient with vocal music that stirs the emotions, challenges the mind, and lifts the spirit. The Saint Paul, Minnesota group tours internationally with repertoire spanning 1,000 years and 25 languages, including new research in Middle Eastern, European and American vocal traditions.

The Rose Ensemble is the recipient of the 2005 Chorus America Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence and first prize winner in sacred and secular music categories at the 2012 Tolosa Choral Contest in Spain (part of the European Choral Grand Prix).

The Rose Ensemble can be heard regularly on American Public Media and the European Broadcasting Union (most notably with annual Christmas broadcasts) and was recently featured in special live broadcasts on Radio France, Chicago Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio, and National Public Radio’s Performance Today.
