Poughkeepsie Woman Faces Traffic and Drug Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith Reports the Arrest of a Poughkeepsie Woman on a Variety of Charges During a Traffic Stop.

On March 3, 2015 at 10:33 a.m., While on Patrol, Deputy Sheriff Ryan Mcmahon Observed a Motorist Commit a Traffic Violation and Initiated a Traffic Stop of the Vehicle on Fairfield Drive in the Putnam Lake Section of the Town of Patterson. the Deputy Determined That the Driver, Identified as Benlynx Garcia, 31, of 10 Holmes Road, Poughkeepsie, New York Held a Suspended License. the Deputy Arrested Ms. Garcia and Charged Her With Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, a Misdemeanor. During the Arrest Process, the Deputy Determined That Ms. Garcia Was in Possession of a Variety of Controlled Substances and a Hypodermic Needle. Ms. Garcia Was Additionally Charged With Three Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and With Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, Misdemeanors. Ms. Garcia Was Processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and Later Released Pending an April 7, 2015 Appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to Answer the Charges.

If Found Guilty of the Misdemeanor Charges, the Defendant Could Face Up to a Year in Jail and a Fine of Up to $1,000.00.
