Obituary, Fannie Place

 

 

Pine Plains, NY – Fannie Place, 100, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

She was born on March 4, 1918, in Dover Plains, NY the daughter of Vernon J. and Minnie (Lawrence) Cookingham.

A homemaker and member of the Pine Plains Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed playing cards, working in her garden. She would take bus trips frequently and was a past member of the Pine Plains Grange.

On September 30, 1935, in Town of North East, NY she married Charles Place. He predeceased her on July 9, 1956.

Survivors include her son, Charles V. Place and his wife Carol of Millerton, NY; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Marion Pedersen of Sharon, CT;

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn E. Law, seven brothers, Herbert, Melvin, Lawrence, Frank, Walt, Edward and Ernest; and three sisters, Mildred Baker, Harriet McGhee and Alice M. Chase.

Calling hours are Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 4 to 7 PM at 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains, NY.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10 AM from the funeral home with Rev. Carol Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
