CORNING, N.Y. – Trailblazers PAC Founder and President Leslie Danks Burke will present a workshop on running for local office at this year’s American Association of University Women (AAUW) – New York State Convention on Saturday, April 21st.
Danks Burke’s workshop, titled “Being An Effective Advocate at the Local Level – Women Running for Office,” will provide an education for women of any political party interested in the nuts-and-bolts of local campaigns, as a potential candidate, a supporter, or an engaged voter. With the motto, “Front Porch Politics,” the nonpartisan Trailblazers PAC educates and invests in candidates for local office who stand for clean government.
In addition to leading the afternoon workshop, Danks Burke will be a panelist at the convention’s opening panel discussion titled, “Advocacy in Current Media Landscape.” Moderated by Crystal Sarakas, Producer/Host at WSKG Public Media, the opening panel will also include Ayesha Sakya, Research Collaborator-News Partnerships & AAUW Fellow; Maureen Quigley, Women’s March Seneca Falls; and Kelli Owens, Director of Women’s Affairs, NY State Governor’s Office.
