SENATOR MURPHY & ASSEMBLYMAN BYRNE TO HOST PUBLIC FORUM WITH
CON EDISON & NYSEG
RESIDENTS CAN SPEAK DIRECTLY TO UTILITIES ABOUT THEIR RESPONSE TO MARCH STORMS

Somers, NY – Two winter storms in early March knocked out power to nearly 160,000 homes and businesses in the Hudson Valley. Some customers of Con Edison and NYSEG were without power for as long as 10 days.
Senator Murphy, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Investigations and Government Operations, has already held extensive, bipartisan hearings with power company executives and state regulators in Albany. This forum will be an opportunity for residents directly address representatives from both NYSEG and Con Edison with their grievances and suggestions.
“Since the first lights went out on that awful Friday, my office and the investigations committee I chair have been demanding answers from the utility companies,” said Senator Murphy. “Now, it’s time the customers have their say. No more emails, no more music on hold waiting for customer service. Step up to the mic and let your voice be heard.”
Due to the vast numbers of residents affected by the outages, this event may draw a high turnout. In the interest of fairness and practicality, anyone wishing to speak will be asked to limit their comments to 3 minutes.
