State Police in Livingston investigate a fatal crash in Hillsdale

PRESS RELEASE

Hillsdale, New York – On April 7, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 22 in the town of Hillsdale.

On April 7, 2018, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to State Route 22 near Sawyer Road in the town of Hillsdale, for a personal injury motor vehicle crash with entrapment.  Initial investigation suggests the vehicle operated by Gus Segschneider, age 69, of Hillsdale, was northbound on State Route 22.  Vehicle two was southbound, operated by a 75-year-old female, of Great Barrington, MA, and crossed over the double yellow line.  Vehicle two entered the northbound lane then struck vehicle one.

The passenger of vehicle one, Donna Segschneider, age 63, of Hillsdale was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Gus Segschneider was transported to the Hillsdale Fire station, and airlifted to Albany Medical Center.

The New York State Police were assisted on scene by Austerlitz Fire Department, Hillsdale Fire Department, Greenport Fire Department, Community Rescue, and Life Net.
