Obituary, Everett “Skip” C. Reid

 

Everett “Skip” C. Reid passed away at the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Home in Hudson, NY on Sunday, March 11, 2018.  He was 74.

Skip was born on November 16, 1943, the son of Everett Reid, Sr. and Janet (Rouse) Reid who preceded him in death, as well as his sister, Eunice (Reid) Davis.

Skip graduated from Pawling High School in 1961 where he started as an offensive lineman on the football team.  He served in the National Guard in Poughkeepsie and attended Dutchess Community College. He then settled into a career in the records division at the Chemical Bank of New York in Pawling.  Skip retired from the Chemical Bank in the 1980s and began a second career as a security guard with House Watch Inc.

Skip was active in the Pawling Community for most of his adult life.  He was past President and an outstanding member of the Pawling Jaycees, a member of the Pawling Lions Club, a former member of the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion, and a life member and Past Chief and Past President of the Pawling Fire Dept.  He was also a Past President of the Dutchess County Volunteer Firemen’s Association.  In his early years, Skip chaired the Jaycees Friday Night Junior Ski at Birch Hill and he certified the Pawling Volunteer Ambulance drivers.

Skip is survived by many cousins (his mother was one of fourteen) and many friends.

Friends may gather at the Pawling Fire House on South Street on Friday, March 16th from 6-9pm.  Rev Mark Allan and the fire company will conduct a Firematic Service at 7 pm.   Burial will take place in the Spring.
