John Moran of Amenia was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after being found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child in January.
Moran was sentenced this week to a year in prison after being found guilty of endangering the welfare of a child. His sentence will be combined with the top charge of predatory sexual assault against a child with the maximum sentence allowed of 25-to-life.
On May 31, 2017, Troopers were contacted by a former Wassaic woman who reported that she is the victim of a sexual offense. A subsequent investigation revealed that Moran subjected the woman, then a child under the age of 13, to a course of sexual contact that occurred over several years. The victim was exposed to the sexual contact at the defendant’s residence in the Town of Amenia.
