Scranton Man arrested for possessing four and a half ounces of crack cocaine

On Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 troopers patrolling State Route 17 in the town of Goshen executed a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of crack-cocaine.  Victor Mercedes, age 21 of Scranton, PA was initially stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  Further investigation by troopers resulted in the seizure of four and a half ounces of crack cocaine.

Mercedes was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, a class AII felony.  He was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree.  He was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail with no bail set.
