Obituary, Larry Dana Holland

Amenia – Larry Dana Holland, 77, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY originally from Indianola, Iowa died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Holland was a computer engineer for Swiss Bank in Stamford, CT and also owned and operated the East-West Bamboo Farm and Garden in Amenia, NY.

Born on December 10, 1937 in Ottumwa, IA he was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Kendall) Holland. On August 27, 1978 in Greenwich, CT he married Marie Dolores (Ianni) Holland who predeceased him on June 17, 2006.

Mr. Holland loved his community. He and his wife were very active in numerous local organizations and gardening clubs. Mr. Holland loved gardening and often had gardening tours at his home in Amenia. In 2004 their East-West Bamboo Farm and Garden was included in The Garden Conservation listing. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony Poveromo and his wife, Anne-Marie of Amenia, NY and Kevin Holland and Larry Holland, Jr. both of Middleboro, MA; three brothers, Don Holland and his wife, Dorothy of Indianola, Iowa, Frank Holland of Mesa, Arizona and Jim Holland and his wife, Cheryl of Indianola, Iowa. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Emily Anne Poveromo of Amenia, NY. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Holland was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Holland and his dog, Trevor.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY with Rev. Kent Wilson officiating.
