Obituary, Dennis Mark Horrigan

Dennis Mark Horrigan, 64, of Wassaic, NY passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Saturday, November 4, 2017 after a long illness. Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Newington, he was the son of Lucy and Donald Horrigan. Dennis graduated Newington High School, class of 1971 and received a Bachelor Degree from Leicester Junior College in 1973.

He went on to use his skills and fulfill his dream of entertaining in the restaurant business. Many will remember Brandys II, Early Times, Apricots, Appetizers, Spankys, Bojangles, Tickets, Stage Stop and Copperfields. All who were lucky enough to have known Dennis will forever remember his quick wit, his laughter, those beautiful blue eyes which twinkled with love and mischief. And that look, who could forget that look that simply meant “Really”!?! Dennis enjoyed many things in life. His heart was huge, he loved helping others in any way he could. His greatest love in life was his son, Dalton Horrigan, who gave him so much joy. Sadly, Dennis will miss raising him and watching him grow up.

His many friends he met along the way became his extended family. Among the many organizations he was passionate about was the Amenia Lions Club, which he was a member for 26 years. Dennis was predeceased by his brother, Donald Horrigan of Otis, MA. He leaves his two sisters, Darlene Rood of Winsted, CT and Deborah Durity of Newington, CT. He will be dearly missed by his niece, Jennifer Gagnon, and his nephews, Daniel Durity, Jeremy Avery, Christopher Rood and Ryan Rood. There will be a Celebration Of Life for Dennis on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Copperfields Bar and Restaurant, 2571 Route 44, Salt Point, NY beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111 (www.cthumane.org); or the American Heart Association, P.O.
