California Man Arrested For Felony DWI Following Two Car Crash

On Thursday November 9th 2017 at approximately 7:20 PM the Red Hook Police Department responded for a report of a two car head on crash at the intersection of Route 9G and West Market Street in the Town of Red Hook. Upon investigation patrols determined that a 2007 Volvo being operated by a 65 year old Tivoli women was traveling northbound on Route 9G when a 2006 Mercury being operated by Brian S. Shickle Jr, 30 of California failed to yield the right of way and made a left hand turn from 9G on to West Market Street causing a head on collision. The 65 year old Tivoli women suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital for further treatment. Shickle was interviewed on scene and determined to be intoxicated by alcohol. Officers attempted to place him in custody at which time he physically resisted arrest and was placed in custody following a brief struggle. Shickle was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony based on a prior misdemeanor DWI conviction in 2013 as well as resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors, and multiple traffic infractions. He was arraigned in Town court and released to the supervision of probation. The Red Hook Police Department was assisted on scene by the Red Hook Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
