An Act of kindness in Patterson

Heather Ingeman

PLEASE READ! I NEVER write anything on FB and I bearly share pictures. But today I want to share something done by one of our local county police officers. This morning I witnessed a sincere act of kindness.

Around 9:15am today 11/2/17 on Route 22 in Patterson in front of the Mobile gas station a homeless man was trying to cross the road with his cart. Putnam County K9 sherrif in truck 250 put his lights on, got out of his vehicle and stopped traffic for this man to cross the road. The man got flustered and confused so he then continued down the road but did not cross. The officer pulled his vehicle into the Mobile gas station and then walked out in the road to stop traffic to allow this man to cross. Seems like a normal police officer job I know but then I waited for a minute at the gas pump and watched as tears came to my eyes. He brought the man over to his truck, opened it, took out his lunch box and gave the man his water. Ok still maybe not a big deal to some people either. But then this officer asked the man to go into the gas station with him where he proceeded in purchasing the homeless man a bag of items from inside.

This simple kind act touched my heart today and at that moment I broke down in tears. We take so many things for granted in this life. This man has nothing but the ripped dirty clothes on this back and his black cart with a broken wheel that he drags behind him with whatever personal belongings he may have left. To see someone, officer or not, reach out just a little bit for this man was truely inspiring to see, especially with all the hate going on in the world today.

Thank you for reading this and maybe this will inspire others as it did me to be more humble and kind.

Please share this post so that the Putnam County Sheriff K9 officer on duty this morning may be recognized and know that he was appreciated for caring just a little more today.
