Ulster County Man Charged With Traffic Misdemeanors

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of an Ulster County man on misdemeanor charges during a traffic stop.

On March 12, 2015 at 11:11 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Christopher Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 22 in the Town of Patterson. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Hamidullah A. Ward, 36, of 71 Washington Avenue, Saugerties, New York held a suspended license. The deputy further determined that Mr. Ward was in violation of a court-ordered ignition interlock restriction in that he was operating a rental vehicle without the use of a court-ordered interlock device. The deputy arrested Mr. Ward and charged him with Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, misdemeanors. The defendant was arraigned before Town of Southeast Justice Gregory Folchetti and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or $1,000.00 bond pending a future appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
