March 15, 2015: Poughkeepsie, NY – Promise of Spring – an exhibit about the promise of light, renewal and rebirth is up now at the Arts Mid-Hudson gallery. The exhibit is a collaborative effort between Tivoli Artists Group (TAG) and Arts Mid-Hudson: thirteen of the Tivoli Artists Group (TAAG) exhibit artworks in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, and mixed media in the Arts Mid-Hudson gallery.

The theme is interpreted by the artists as a joyful anticipation of spring and many of the artworks include the fresh spring-green color of new buds on trees and flowering gardens. Tarryl Gabel’s traditional oil paintings show the spring greens of water and gardens and Marie Cole captures a garden with phlox and coneflowers.

Gregory Martin’s photography of birch trees in first bud creates horizontal bands of bright green leaf buds and white birch trunks. While Gilbert Rios also uses photography, he zooms in close to spring’s tulips creating blocks of color. Susan Fowler-Gallagher photographs on silk are delicate and Marcia Slatkin uses her photography to reconfigure the images through collage.

Roxie Johnson watercolor creates her version of spring through shape and color and Kate Kennedy creates mixed media paintings with wild spring colors. Frana Baruch has created a pen and ink watercolor on transparent film of a dragonfly. The artwork is hung in the gallery window allowing the colors to shimmer through the daylight.
