Pine Plains man charged with burglary following traffic stop

Pleasant Valley, New York – On September 5, 2017, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks, partnered with the Poughkeepsie Bureau of Criminal Investigation, arrested 22-year-old Jason M. Stroly of Pine Plains, New York, for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers stopped a speeding Subaru Legacy operated by Stroly on the Taconic State Parkway.  Pursuant to an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, Stroly was found to possess marihuana and stolen jewelry.  A subsequent investigation revealed that Stroly had unlawfully entered a family members’ home located in the Town of Milan and had stolen over $2,500 worth of jewelry. Additionally, the defendant had stolen jewelry from a family member who resided in Pine Plains.

Stroly was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.  He was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Pleasant Valley and Pine Plains Justice Courts at a later date and time.
