Wappinger, New York – On August 15, 2017, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Cassandra Smaine, age 20, of the Bronx, New York, for Identity Theft in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, both Class D Felonies.

An investigation revealed that Smaine attempted to cash a forged check at a bank branch in the Town of Wappinger in May of 2016 and fled prior to police arrival.

Smaine was arraigned at the Town of Wappinger Court, and she was released on bond pending a future court appearance.
