A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Saturn SL, operated by 23-year-old Joseph C. Licurse of LaGrange, N.Y., was traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway. Another northbound vehicle, operated by Ray C. Butler, age 28, of Mohegan Lake, subsequently struck Licurse’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
Licurse was extricated from the vehicle by Putnam Valley Fire Department and transported to Westchester medical Center via helicopter. He is currently listed in critical condition.
Butler was transported to Westchester Medical Center via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. The State Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Cortlandt by calling (914) 769-2600.
