Arrest made in hit and run fatal

On Sunday, June 11, 2017 the New York State Police in Haverstraw and Tarrytown arrested SCOTT SPOONER (59) of Vineland, NJ for leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.

Spooner was operating a 2009 Kenworth Tractor Trailer southbound on the NY State Thruway that struck PAUL PEACOCK (54) of New York, NY near the Ramapo Rest Area at around 4:00 AM.  Investigators located Spooner and his vehicle at approximately 12:15 PM while checking the area truck stops.  The damaged Kenworth was found in the Pilot Travel Center on State Route 17 in Mahwah, NJ.

NYSP were assisted by the Mahwah Police Department.  Spooner was arraigned in the Village of Sloatsburg Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail on $25,000.00 bail.
