Amenia, New York – On June 6, 2017, New York State Police from the Dover Plains barracks arrested 64-year-old John W. Moran of Wassaic, New York, for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, an A-II Felony.

On May 31, 2017, Troopers were contacted by a former Wassaic woman who reported that she is the victim of a sexual offense.  A subsequent investigation revealed that Moran subjected the woman, then a child under the age of 13, to a course of sexual contact that occurred over several years.  The victim was exposed to the sexual contact at the defendant’s residence in the Town of Amenia.

Moran was arraigned before Judge Norman Moore in the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding Moran is asked to contact the State Police by calling (845) 677-7300.  All calls can remain confidential.
