Where:               Cary Institute, 2801 Sharon Turnpike, Millbrook, NY (see attached map for details)

The local negative economic and health impacts due to the Trump administration’s proposed EPA and other science-based budget cuts, as well as the withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, will be the focus of a demonstration outside of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, NY, where Representative John Faso (R-NY) has been invited to speak on Monday morning.  Constituents will carry signs calling on Representative Faso to support funding for scientific research and oppose budget cuts to the EPA.

“The prosperity of the Hudson Valley depends on a healthy environment and climate, “ says organizer and Dover Plains resident, Jill Fieldstein.  “Our farms, tourism and businesses will all suffer from increased extreme weather, droughts and flooding if we do not address climate change now. Our health, from clean water to avoiding tick borne illnesses, depends on the work of the EPA and organizations like the Cary Institute that receive federal funding.”

“We are looking for leadership and solutions from our elected Representative, John Faso.  While we have seen some encouraging signs from him on the environment, he has also shied away from being a true leader. We want to see him get out in front on this issue – let’s make the Hudson Valley a leader in the green economy.”
