Pancake Breakfast and Maple Open House Event at Bowdoin Park on March 22nd

Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro invites residents of all ages to celebrate spring at a Pancake Breakfast and Maple Sugar Open House event on Sunday, March 22nd. The pancake breakfast will be from 9:30am to 12pm followed by Open House activities from 12:30pm to 4pm.

County Executive Molinaro said, “After a long winter, this is a great chance to celebrate spring and enjoy our award-winning Bowdoin Park. Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast and then check out all of the great maple sugar activities throughout the afternoon.”

The pancake breakfast celebrates the start of the maple syrup season and is a great chance to enjoy a delicious meal featuring Bowdoin Park’s own maple syrup. Breakfast will be held in Pavilion 5 and is $5 per person, with children 6 and under free of charge. The maple syrup shed will also be open throughout the event with demonstrations of how the maple syrup is made. Maple syrup will be available for sale at the breakfast. Special thanks to ShopRite of Poughkeepsie for generously donated food and supplies for this special event.

The Maple Open House will feature a hands-on maple sugaring program where participants can take part in the different steps of the process from tapping the trees, to collecting the sap and then boiling it down for syrup. Both current and Native American methods of creating maple sugar will be explored.

There will be activities in Bowdoin’s Maple Sugar Shed and the Education Center Quad. All activities are free of charge. The event schedule is as follows:
