KEYBANK EMPLOYEES VOLUNTEER WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS ON 27TH ANNUAL NEIGHBORS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE DAY

 

On May 24, more than 230 Hudson Valley KeyBank employees will volunteer with community organizations across the state, advancing neighborhood prosperity

TARRYTOWN, NY. – May 16, 2017 – On May 24, KeyBank will host its 27^th annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day. Employees across Hudson Valley will spend the day volunteering with community organizations and service projects, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hudson Valley House of Hope, and the Dutchess County SPCA. They will join thousands of KeyBank employees across the nation in receiving paid time off to volunteer in the neighborhoods where they live and work. Together, Hudson Valley employees will volunteer an estimated 950 hours in a single day.

Hudson Valley KeyBank Volunteer Projects are as follows:

• Brewster: Green Chimneys – Volunteers will assist with weeding, composting, mulching, and preparing flower beds for planting
• Carmel: NYCARC Inc, Putnam Chapter – Employees will help with garden maintenance
• Cornwall on Hudson: Foodbank of the Hudson Valley – Participants will check and sort donated foods
• Cottlekill: Brookside School Ulster Green ARC – Outside project will include planting and mulching around the building and pavilion
• Elmsford: Food Bank of Westchester – Employees will assist with sorting and packing food
• Gardiner: Mohonk Preserve – Volunteers will work at the campground, installing a split rail fence
• Hopewell Junction: Love Hold Life – Volunteers will work at a car wash to raise money for children’s cancer research
• Hyde Park: Dutchess County SPCA – Beautification of external property will include painting, cleanup, and reorganizing donation bins
• Kingston: YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County – Volunteers will assist in outside cleanup including raking, painting, and shoveling
• Marlboro: Marlboro Free Library – Employees will prepare crafts for children’s summer programs
• Middletown: Access Support For Living Inc – Volunteers will prepare goody bags for golf event
• New City: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County – Volunteers will assist with preparing fundraising materials
• Newburgh: Habitat for Humanity Newburgh – Participants will help with painting, demolition, installation of home goods, and landscaping
• North Salem: Friends of Karen – Volunteers will wrap birthday gifts and organize toy pantry shelves
• Pleasant Valley: New Horizons Resources Inc – Volunteers will assist with spring maintenance, including cleaning of bushes, shrubs, and planting flowers
• Poughkeepsie: Abilities First Inc. – Outdoor activities will include exterior window painting and landscaping
• Poughkeepsie: Dutchess Outreach – Employees will help with weeding, planting, harvesting, and other outdoor cleanup
• Poughkeepsie: United Way of Dutchess and Orange Counties – Participants will organize and sort donations
• Red Hook: Red Hook Public Library – Volunteers will help with the planting of the Children’s Learning Garden
• Saugerties: Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy – Outdoor activities will include sanding and weatherproofing picnic tables and benches for year-long use
• Spring Valley: West Street Child Care Learning Center – Employees will participate in the planting of the annual flower garden
• Spring Valley: VISIONS Services for the Blind – Volunteers will paint, clean, and organize indoor and outdoor projects
• Tarrytown: The Neighborhood House – Volunteers will assist with fence painting and chair varnishing
• Tarrytown: Warner Library – Employees will assist with the reorganization of books
• Wappinger Falls: Hudson Valley House of Hope – Outdoor project includes bricklaying a rest area
• Warwick: Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center – Participants will help stain an outdoor garden structure and fence.
• White Plains: My Sister’s Place – Volunteers will create children’s craft bags for clients

 

Many of the bank’s branches will close at noon on May 24 to accommodate employee volunteers; customers will have access to ATMs, as well as online and mobile banking. In 2016, close to 6,000 Key employees volunteered across the country with more than 720 non-profit agencies, committing a total of 23,000 hours to community organizations and projects.

Neighbors Make the Difference Day launched in 1991, with a group of KeyBank employees in Alaska who volunteered for service projects.
