SENATOR MURPHY TO HOST SEX OFFENDER ROUNDTABLE: Hudson Valley Senator continues to focus on updating Meghan’s Law

SENATOR MURPHY TO HOST SEX OFFENDER ROUNDTABLE
Hudson Valley Senator continues to focus on updating
Meghan’s Law
YORKTOWN, NY – The arrest on March 28th of a level 2 sex offender in Ossining for possession of child pornography marked the second week in a row that a dangerous sex offender has been busted for using the internet to prey on new victims. The week before, a level 3 offender living in Katonah had been arrested for allegedly convincing a 14-year-old North Carolina girl to send him sexually explicit videos and photos.
In response to these heinous acts, and as part of his ongoing mission to make the Hudson Valley a safer place to live, Senator Murphy will host a roundtable discussion with elected officials, advocacy groups and law enforcement representatives to discuss updating Megan’s Law.
“Sexual predators today have much greater access in this digital age than they have had in the past, placing more potential victims at risk,” said Senator Murphy. “The first step in protecting our children is to be informed. This roundtable discussion will provide a valuable forum to discuss what steps we need to take to create and pass tough legislation like Megan’s Law that will hold sexual predators more responsible for their acts.”
