Obituary, Neil T. Junke

 

 

Millbrook – Neil T. Junke, 63, a life-long area resident, died on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at The Grand at River Valley in Poughkeepsie.

Born on June 16, 1953 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Victor and Margaret Pearl Rice Junke. Neil graduated from F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park.

He was part of the cafeteria staff for the Millbrook Central School District.

He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Adirondack Hiking Club, He loved the outdoors and liked to golf, ski, hike, kayak, and garden.

His family was very important to him, and he lived for his children. Neil is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Yerkes, of Kingston; son, Alexander Junke, of Pleasant Valley; daughter, Allison Junke, of Millbrook; grandson, Jaryn Yerkes; former spouse, Maureen Junke of Pleasant Valley; sister, Nadine Washington, and her husband, Lester, of Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, April 27th at 4365 Albany Post Rd, Route 9, Hyde Park.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11am on Friday, April 28th at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, Neil’s family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street NW, Washington, DC 20037 (www.worldwildlife.org).
