DCC to Host Soil Symposium
March 29, 2017 – Dutchess Community College will host “Our Native Soil: The Dish on Dutchess County’s Dirt,” a symposium featuring experts in farming and soil-related topics, on April 8 between 9 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
Kayla Altland from the FDR National Historic Site will deliver the keynote address, which will touch on the Roosevelts’ legacy of conservation and the restoration of their home garden. Additionally, breakout sessions will cover topics such as urban gardening, education and engagement through farming and other soil-based subjects.
The event will begin in the Drumlin Hall cafeteria and move into locations in the Washington Center for Science and Art. The symposium is free and open to the public and will be hosted by Dr. Mark Condon, DCC biology professor. Guests should park in Lot D. Email condon@sunydutchess.edu for more information.
