POUGHKEEPSIE: Arts Mid-Hudson will celebrate National Poetry Month with a Dutchess County Poetic Party on April 9 with readings by seven Dutchess County poets led by the county’s Poet Laureate Bettina ‘Gold’ Wilkerson.
Celia Bland, Lucia Cherciu, Mark Dema, Raphael Kosek, Larry Sansone and Edwin Torres, who also were nominated for the Dutchess County Poet Laureate, position will join Wilkerson at the free event which is open to the public. The party will take place from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Arts Mid-Hudson, 696 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie. (West of Adams Fairacre Farms on Rt. 44)
National Poetry Month is the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K-12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, bloggers, and, of course, poets marking poetry’s important place in our culture and our lives.
“Dutchess County is fortunate to have a long and storied history of celebrating the arts, and poetry is no small part of that tradition,” said Dutchess County Marcus Molinaro. “Through the work of our 2017 Dutchess County Poet Laureate, Bettina ‘Gold’ Wilkerson, that heritage will continue to grow in our next generation of poets and artists.”
