Drug Drop-Off Events This Saturday

Drug Drop-Off Events This Saturday

The Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, will hold three events this Saturday, March 11, for residents to safely dispose of unwanted or unused medications.

Drop offMedications will be accepted at the following locations and times tomorrow:

  • 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Amenia Town Hall (Winter Farmer’s Market), 4988 Route 22, Amenia
  • Noon to 1:30 p.m. Dover Fire House, 3122 Route 22, Dover Plains
  • 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Millbrook Fire House, 20 Front Street, Millbrook

In his 2017 State of the County address, County Executive Marc Molinaro highlighted expanding prescription drug drop-off points, and making it easier for residents to dispose of such drugs, as an important component of fighting the opiate and heroin epidemic. Events like Saturday’s help ensure unwanted/unused medications will not fall into the hands of those who might abuse them.

At a similar drop-off event last week, Dutchess County collected more than 100 pounds from residents. Click here for more information about Saturday’s drug disposal events, as well as the Dutchess County Prescription Medication Drop Box program.
